I have decided I really have no idea what I look like. When trying to do a self-portrait featuring me as Alice following the rabbit, I realized trying to paint yourself is much more challenging than expected. At first, I thought I was maybe doing alright until Jon came in the room and said, "Is that girl supposed to be asain? with your hair?"... failure. Oh well, still working on it, anyway here is a picture of my progress:)

..Of course, I felt the need to make my hair longer, who ever heard of a Alice with short hair?...Or red actually. Oh well:)
It sounds really hard! I have no idea what I really look like and if I saw myself on the street I wouldn't know it was me. Would you? Good luck!! I am sure it will be beautiful! xx
ReplyDeleteHey, whoever your mystery girl is, she's really pretty! Didn't Escher paint himself? Come to think of it, probably a lot of artists did! Are you looking at a picture of yourself? That might help, but who knows. I could never paint me or anyone else. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a hard thing to do! Add a little spark to the eyes, and get down your smirky-almost-mischievous-smile, and you'll be well on your way! Haha. Part of painting yourself, is capturing who you are and what people see in you- then meshing them together with paint... I think it's going to be a wonderful painting- regardless ! D
ReplyDeleteit's okay abbey. I had to do a self portrait for a painting class and it's almost my least favorite piece of all time. painting strange looking oddly shaped folk is such a less daunting task don't you think?
ReplyDeleteand besides, I think that's closer to what alice might have looked like anyways. i mean, great as the disney classics may be, does that mean that just because some animator picked a particular color for the heroine's hair and dress in that fairytale that it absolutely has to be what they look like?!? ajkhdljhf....,.
no built up frustration and bitterness there lol
I thought the "ole Abbey in Wonderland" very much looked like you. I tend to agree with Sara, getting that Abbey sparkle in the eyes and the mischievious mouth and wa la or Bob's your uncle there you have it!
